St. Patricks Day Shamrock Waffle Cookie
Mini waffle makers are all the rage. Okay - maybe I just love to collect them, but listen they are at Target - which means they are a big deal. I did not however get my shamrock maker at Target - they didn't carry them this year. I purchased a 3 pack from Sams Club online HERE.
I love how versatile a waffle maker is. Pretzel dough - use the waffle maker, cinnamon roll - waffle maker, eggs - waffle maker. It's almost as if you can put anything in there! I've been seeing a trend on Instagram to put cookie dough into a mini waffle maker - myy mind was blown and I knew I had to give it a try.
Waffle Maker Cookie Tips
So here's the deal, there ARE some tricks to making a cookie taste just right when putting it into a mini waffle maker.
Tip 1:
Chilled dough. Do not put freshly made dough into the waffle maker. The cookie cooks too quickly and you have a doughy mess that can't be removed as well. Instead, chill your dough in balls and then place into the waffle maker.
Tip 2:
Don't overcook. Unless you like the taste of burnt cookie, keep a close eye on it while it cooks. I will be frank - a cookie in a waffle maker tastes different, it does just tend to take on more of an over-baked taste so if you like a fresh from the oven cookie - then stick to it - but this method is fun to try and if you follow tip number 3 - then your mind will be blown a second time.
Tip 3:
Cinnamon butter. In addition to vanilla ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce, cinnamon butter is THE SECRET ingredient. My sister used to manage a Chili's restaurant and they serve a skillet chocolate chip cookie. The restaurant has changed the dessert since she worked there and it very much disappointed me because they used to serve it on top of a bed of cinnamon butter. This is NOT HEALTHY but it is DELICIOUS and an absolute game changer - try it once - I promise you'll love it. Just take softened butter and stir it up with ground cinnamon. Place a dollup on the plate before your warm cookie comes out of the waffle maker and then top it with ice cream, caramel and chocolate sauce. You can even add a little whip cream.
ENJOY!

Kimberly Marie
