Shamrock Puff Pastry
With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about how to celebrate this festive occasion. While many people opt for green beer or Irish whiskey, why not celebrate with something sweet and delicious? In this blog post, I'll show you how to make a shamrock puff pastry treat that's perfect for St. Patrick's Day.
What is Puff Pastry?
Puff pastry is a type of pastry that's made by layering dough and butter together, then rolling and folding the dough to create hundreds of flaky layers. This process is what makes puff pastry so light and airy, and it's also what makes it easy to work with. Here are some highlights on why puff pastry is a great ingredient to use in baking:
Easy to handle: Puff pastry is very pliable and easy to work with, making it a great choice for beginner bakers. It can be rolled out thinly and cut into any shape you desire, making it perfect for creating decorative pastries like our shamrock treat.
Versatile: Puff pastry can be used in both sweet and savory dishes, which makes it a versatile ingredient to have on hand. From fruit tarts to savory pies, the possibilities are endless.
Quick and convenient: Puff pastry can be found in most grocery stores and is a quick and convenient ingredient to use. There's no need to make pastry dough from scratch, saving you time and effort.
How to make a Shamrock Puff Pastry treat
Now, let's get back to making our shamrock puff pastry treat! Ingredients: 1 sheet puff pastry
Melted butter
Brown sugar
Cinnamon
Pulling it all together is much simpler than some of my other puff pastry treats.
Lay out your puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a pizza roller or knife, cut a thin slice off of the edge and then cut into 3 pieces (you'll use these for your stems). Spread the pastry with melted butter, brown sugar and sprinkle generously with cinnamon.
Next: ROLL
These next few steps I've included pictures for reference:
Once all of your shamrocks are made, bake in a 400° oven for 15-18 minutes. You can sprinkle with powdered sugar or a drizzle with a simple glaze for added sweetness.
And there you have it - a delicious and festive shamrock puff pastry treat that's easy to make thanks to the versatility and pliability of puff pastry. You can serve these tasty treats as a dessert or a snack, and they're sure to impress your guests. So why not give this recipe a try and add some Irish flair to your celebration this year? Happy St. Patrick's Day!
XOXO,
Kimberly Marie
