Nutella Turkey
Updated: Nov 13, 2022
My 8 year old loves Nutella. He was introduced to it at a friends house and asks for it often. I usually spread it on a piece of bread and he devours it.
I saw this idea to make a Christmas tree out of puff pastry and Nutella but thought - why couldn't it be applicable for ANY holiday.
Enter Thanksgiving TURKEY!
The easiest 3 ingredient "snack" - yup, we're calling it snack - but you can have it for dessert too. My boys went crazy for it after school. I thought it tasted better fresh from the oven, but the kids liked it better cooled - either way - delish!
Other variations for this turkey include - BISCOFF! Did I get you drooling there?? I love Biscoff spread. Another similar version would be Trader Joes Cookie Butter - I am on the hunt for their pumpkin flavored cookie butter they had a few years ago - now THAT would be incredible! What else would YOU do? Pie filling? Cream cheese? The possibilities are truly endless.
Start by placing two sheets of puff pastry onto parchment paper and cut with a pizza roller or knife into a "sort of" semi circle.
Spread the Nutella all over one sheet
Place the second pastry sheet on top
Using your cutting tool, cut strips toward the center (but not all the way through) around the outside edge. It doesn't need to be perfect.
Using the scraps from the puff pastry, cut a turkey body, beak, and wattle and place in the center
Now the FUN part! Take those "feathers" you cut and twist them once or twice and press the end down - all the way around.
Brush with melted butter
And pop that cutie into the oven at 400° for about 15 minutes. It'll puff up and brown beautifully. You can even add candy eyeballs and dust with powdered sugar if you like.
Have fun and ENJOY!
XOXO,
Kimberly Marie
