Holiday Style Guide: Casual Holiday Looks

Listen, I need you to hear me out, sequins are casual - okay - glad we had that talk.

I am in love with the dressy casual looks that involve leather, and sequins - it's edgy, fancy, and yet casual and comfy - I mean - sequin joggers? Count me in! But don't worry - leggings are here to stay too - I'm a BIG fan of some good ole stretchy pants for the holidays!

Let me say one more thing before we dive into our casual holiday looks - just wear the style of jean that you feel confident in and that look good for your body type. Don't let the generation differences leave you feeling defeated on your style adventure. Rock what you feel confident in - skinny, wide leg, bootcut, whatever! If I've learned anything over the years it's that confidence in an outfit is the first thing people notice.

Onto the looks! Casual, comfy, and easy. All of these are perfect for running those Christmas shopping errands, heading to the school play or helping in the class room, shuffling car pools full of Santa's little reindeer (or stinky boys to sports), going to the Jazz game downtown (yup - I'm a Utah girl), or off to lunch with the girlfriends and of course we can't leave out staying at home with a glass of egg nog or sparkling cider and wrapping presents (or just sitting there willing yourself to wrap them #guilty).

LOOK #1

The beloved Shacket. All shackets are not created equal. This Wild Fable shacket from Target is not only the perfect red color but incredibly soft! Most of these babies are an itchy wool but this beauty is so soft and hangs nicely too - not boxy like many others.

LOOK #2

Stretchy pants, check. Sparkling cider, check. Comfiest sweater, check, check. Wrapped gifts - ummmm, nope. This outfit has been on major repeat. I LOVE it. When it's extra cold outside I'll slip on my boots and my black Carhartt beanie and I'm telling you - I've gotten stopped at least twice each time I go out in this - but I love wearing it in too. I've linked the sweater but it keeps selling out so I've linked some similar ones too. Let's talk about the pants. The ones I'm wearing in this photo are from Carbon 38 - one of my favorite leggings. However, I also have a pair of CRZ Yoga leather like pants that I love and they are much more budget friendly, plus if you use code UPBEATBARRE you can get an additional 20% off!! I love a good discount! I just ordered the Spanx leather leggings on their Black Friday sale - I'll be sure to give a full review on the Gram.

LOOK #3

Listen, whoever said you can't wear white pants after labor day was dead wrong. I LOVE winter whites! Pairing white pants with this Mama Claus sweatshirt makes me happy! Pink for PRESIDENT! Too much? Ok - even a red sweater would be beautiful with white pants, add a festive headband and you've got the perfect holiday look (everything linked below). I'm trying to talk myself out of purchasing the red sequin joggers because I think it's the perfect paring with this sweatshirt - buuuut it's not going well - they are already in my Amazon cart.

LOOK #4

You may recognize this next top from my "Dressy Holiday Looks" post - you can read it HERE. This top is a holiday go to! I love the pattern and that it incorporates black and navy so it pairs well with just about everything. Plus it's on sale right now too! The puffy vest and coat are splurges but absolutely worth it because sometimes it's difficult to find dupes that are good look-a-likes and have quality that hold up like the original - trust me - I've tried. I also like mixing pieces that are more expensive with more affordable finds like this top that is on sale right now for $12.95! What a steal!

LOOK #5

A classic button up top will never go out of style! So many options when it comes to patterns - I've linked a few of my favorites. Of course, red holiday plaid is perfection. Pair it with jeans, boots and a sparkly headband and you've got the perfect look. Or add a jacket, heels, and a necklace for date night OR grab your favorite cardigan and Ugg slippers and you must not forget your favorite soda (or hot cider - recipe HERE) for car pool!

Which look is your favorite??

XOXO!

Kimberly Marie
