Father's Day Gift Ideas

What DO dad's really want for Father's Day?

After completing a poll on Instagram, I have compiled a guide as to what dad's want for Father's Day. From quick and easy last minute ideas to cheap vs expensive gifts - this guide will help you find the perfect gift for your man!

1. The Gift of RELAXATION

Dad's work hard. They want to feel loved and appreciated and they definitely like to relax. A great way to express that appreciation (which was the number one suggestion) is a massage. There's no need to spend a fortune or run get a gift certificate to your favorite spa because this gift can be absolutely free!

A massage is a great option for a last minute idea. Grab some scented lotion (or no lotion at all) and soothe his troubles away. Try to create a quiet, comfortable space, with dim light. Add some music for a relaxing ambiance. My favorite artist for massage is Nadama (Ocean Within album), or search up 'spa music' on any music streaming app.

A simple way to get the kids involved is to assign them each a hand, foot, or head, etc. and let them show their dad some love.

Other suggestions that were given for possible gift ideas to go along with this theme were a massage gun, tea tree massage oil/lotion, "manly" shampoo and conditioner, even a hammock!

2. The SPORTS Enthusiast

Is your man the weekly golfer, head to the mountains type, or the pickle ball pro? From outdoor enthusiast to fitness pro - he's got to be outfitted correctly. Athletic wear is a fantastic gift option - but it doesn't have to break the bank! If Lululemon has his heart - a gift card for a little shopping spree is the perfect thing for him, but can I let you in on a little secret? ... Amazon has some great Lululemon dupe options that ship fast and fit great. Another well kept secret for athletic wear for men is CRZ Yoga. Order direct from their site HERE and use the code UPBEATBARRE for an additional 20% off!

Other gift ideas suggested for your sports enthusiast:

Hiking boots

Running shoes

Fitbit watch

Pickle ball set

Golf lessons (or other lessons he's been thinking of - scuba anyone?)

3. The Grill Master

For the man that loves cooks country, adores his Traeger Smoker (or Pit Boss), and researches the best cuts of meat for specific recipes - look no further.

THIS is where my husband fits in. He loves to pull out his apron, gather his grilling tools and search the internet for something delicious to smoke every weekend. With 4 growing boys we NEVER hear them complain when dad cooks. For a recent family movie night we grilled up pizza and the kids haven't stopped talking about how fun it was (not to mention tasty!) - they want to do it every weekend - a new family tradition!

I've gathered up all the ideas that rolled in from Instagram polls and searched for the most affordable options and put them in shopping links below. Keep in mind - some of these items are on sale specifically for Father's Day - so don't wait!

4. The Profesh Professor

He may not be a professor, but a man who brings home the bacon from an office (sounds boring) - hmm - maybe we should just get him a grill?? THIS theme of suggestions was actually quite entertaining! I learned so much about friends - watch collectors, bag collectors, tie collectors - THE works of office work!

Gifts in this category are so fun because they are so personal and really show the personality of your man! Is he a floral tie kind of guy, skinny tie, bow tie? Does he like an engraved watch, leather band, gold band? How about that bag? Does he like it large or small, shoulder strap or handles?

I remember personalizing ties for my dad when I was young. We'd find the cheapest, ugliest ties from goodwill, grab some puffy glue paint (with sparkles of course) and go to town. Bless that mans heart - he'd wear them with pride. So of course - you can certainly get your kids involved with this option as well - that is - if you've got a man who's not ashamed of a little puffy paint.

5. Face Time

For those men whose love language isn't gifts, quality time is the perfect option.

One of my favorite suggestions came from a gal whose husband has been in the middle east for 8 months! She sent him his favorite snacks and children's books. On Father's Day her kids will be FaceTiming their dad and he will be reading books to them while enjoying snacks and bonding time with the family. How sweet is that??!

Other suggestions for Face Time is a nice meal, a friendly family game/movie night with lots of snuggles - which again - doesn't break that bank! Make up his favorite dessert and you've got a Father's Day memory for the books.
