It's HERE! Back to school time. A time to dread and a time to love but always a time to PARTY!

Each year I throw a back to school party for my boys. Essentially it is a fun dinner of their choosing, themed desserts, journaling, blessings from their dad, and of course everyone's favorite - forced back to school pictures. Sometimes I make the party happen before school starts and other times it's not until a few weeks into the school year - it all depends on how my mom brain is functioning at any given moment. What HAS made things easier putting it all together is having a similar theme from year to year and all the supplies in a box. Each year I try to add a fun extra or special surprise. One year it was gum ball pencils, another year a gift of new clothes, and another year an apple stamped burlap bag filled with each of their favorite goodies. As my boys get older I find more and more how important it is to have good food. They care less about the cuteness of it and more about the goodness of it so I've had to get selective with my themed treats. Chocolate is always a winner, sugar cookies too - this year I'll be adding a charcuterie board (NEXT POST ON THAT!). Not only is it fun for me but my youngest absolutely loves them and his excitement for them helps everyone else look forward to it too.
